Short history

The department of Geology of mineral deposits was found by academician Ì.P. Semenenko in 1944. Among the main historical (educational and scientific) stages of the department’s development are: geological and economical investigation of the territory of Ukraine (1940-1950), foundation of laboratory of ore microscopy (1953-1955); ore deposits investigations within the whole territory of the former Soviet Union (1955-1976); foundation of mineralogical and petrographic laboratory for studying the prospection of apatite mineralization of the Ukrainian Shield (1979); geological and technological substantiation for building of underground system of Kyiv (1968-1974); fundamental scientific works in the field of metasomatism (1989-1997); geological and economical study of ore deposits and mineral base of Ukraine and the world (since 2004).
